The world of cryptocurrency is vast and overwhelming. Even relatively simple concepts, like blockchain technology and smart contracts, can quickly overwhelm beginners. The ever-changing crypto landscape also makes it difficult for those with limited time to keep up with the latest changes and updates.
This is where Nic Puckrin comes into the picture. Puckrin is a TradFi turned crypto enthusiast. He has spent his life in finance and is the CEO of Coin Bureau. In his early life, Puckrin worked his way up the traditional finance ladder before ditching that world to embrace an emerging alternative built on permissionless, open finance.
He’s been through both the ups and the downs. To use a well-worn cliche, the man has seen it all.
Of course, there are plenty of similar crypto veterans who have lived through the last couple of decades. Where Puckrin stands out is his desire to make a difference in the crypto space. He has brought a philanthropic attitude toward cryptocurrency in the form of no-strings-attached knowledge. This is founded on deep research and expansive experience and is presented in a way that helps others along their journey to financial independence.
Let’s take a closer look at this crypto legend in the making and consider what Puckrin wants everyone to know about crypto education.
From TradFi to Crypto
Nic Puckrin grew up in finance. He studied Financial Engineering at Imperial College London before working his way up to a job at Goldman Sachs. From the perspective of a traditional finance career, he had succeeded, but Puckrin saw the writing on the wall.
Traditional finance wasn’t built for a rapidly globalizing world. Porous national borders created by the internet age require a safer, more effective form of open, permissionless finance. Cryptocurrency fit the bill, and by 2016, Puckrin had dived headlong into the merging world of virtual currency.
Recognizing the Need for Proper Crypto Education
Cryptocurrency isn’t a scam or a get-rich-quick scheme. To be sure, there are scammers in the crypto world — as is the case with all concentrations of wealth — and crypto holders should be on the lookout for unsavory behavior.
However, cryptocurrency as a whole is quickly becoming a stable and recognizable part of modern finance. It has already been around for nearly two decades, and it isn’t going anywhere soon.
On the contrary, it is blazing the trail of fintech and digital finance everywhere you look. Even back in 2022, when the crypto world was in a severe bear market, The Motley Fool was predicting a relatively positive view of the future of cryptocurrency. The investing titan even went so far as to say that “with highly knowledgeable people setting the tone for future regulations, there’s hope that a workable system can be developed for investors, consumers, cryptocurrency businesses, and traditional banks.”
Fast-forward two years, and cryptocurrency is in another bull run. Virtual currency remains a firmly embedded and emerging part of the 21st-century financial sector, and it is set to play a critical role in the future of human interactions.
With its central and growing role, it’s essential that consumers understand cryptocurrency, how it works, and how they can safely and profitably engage with it. This is where Puckrin’s work with Coin Bureau comes into the picture.
Puckrin’s Crypto Education Platform
In 2017, a year after fully engaging in the crypto world, Puckrin started the Coin Bureau. The site's goal was to provide educational material about the then-relatively unknown revolutionary power of decentralized blockchain technology. The site quickly populated with insightful articles that offered both simple and in-depth dives into cryptocurrency.
After realizing how popular these articles were, the Coin Bureau team decided to diversify the presentation of their content. That’s where their YouTube channel got a start with co-founder Guy Turner. Over time, their YouTube channel has become one of the largest crypto and finance focused channels on the platform.
Their information is presented in a conversational, approachable, and clean format. Both active and potential investors saw its value, and the site started to grow. Before long, it had evolved into one of the most recognizable educational platforms in the crypto space.
Spot Bitcoin ETF: An Example of Crypto Education in Action
An excellent example of Coin Bureau’s approach to crypto education can be found in a recent piece published on the site. The article, written by Puckrin himself, provides insights into the recently released Spot Bitcoin ETFs. It provides a helpful analysis of a recent event that reignited the larger crypto market heading into 2024.
Puckrin’s goal, as stated from the outset of the lengthy breakdown, is to provide “a concise, straightforward breakdown of what Bitcoin ETFs are and what actually goes on behind the scenes when buying or selling them.” From there, the crypto guru dives into a white paper-esque deep dive of what a Bitcoin ETF is and how it works. He provides a step-by-step analysis of “in-kind” versus “in-cash” redemption models and breaks down key terms, like ETF Issuers, Prime Brokers, and Transfer Agents. There’s even an FAQ at the end with several top search terms related to the subject.
The entire piece is clearly aimed at demystifying the concept of a Bitcoin ETF for new members of the crypto community. It isn’t laced with pitches to pay for a course, buy a membership, or invest in a meme coin. It simply presents relevant information in a relatable manner. This is the heart and soul of what Puckrin wants to provide to the crypto community: an affordable (i.e. free), accessible, understandable, and up-to-date way to access crypto education.
Providing a Safe Haven for Crypto Education
The world of cryptocurrency is largely unregulated and requires a thorough understanding of both how to guard against risks and how to effectively take advantage of opportunities. Failure is too costly to learn purely through experience. Effective crypto education is needed to give new and existing investors alike the ability to make unbiased and informed decisions.
The Coin Bureau has paved the way for that to happen. The company has blazed the trail for crypto education, setting the gold standard and providing the crypto community with a trusted library of educational resources that they can lean on as they navigate the twists and turns that come with investing in this wild and exciting new world of finance that is unfolding before our very eyes.
