S&P 500 futures fall further as Russia-Ukraine peace talks get underway
|
Market sentiment took a hit in early European trading, as another round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine kick off in Turkey.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov meets with his Ukraine counterpart Dmytro Kuleba to find a solution to end the Eastern Europe crisis.
Heading into the meeting with Lavrov, Kuleba said, "my expectations are low", as reported by a Spanish media outlet.
Market reaction
Amid jittery markets, the S&P 500 futures now shed 0.65% on the day vs. a 0.20% drop seen before the meeting began.
Meanwhile, the European indices are down about 2% after opening little changed on Thursday.
Gold price, however, appears little inspired by the renewed risk-aversion wave. XAU/USD is currently trading at $1,986, down 0.34% so far.
