Possible air strikes underway in Syria as UN Security Council prepares to meet
|Various outlets are reporting on unconfirmed air strikes taking place within Syria, possibly targeting the Syrian Air Force.
Key highlights:
No one is immediately held responsible for the unconfirmed missile attacks being reported in Syria. Syrian State Television held that the US was suspected of carrying out a strike operation, but both the White House and Pentagon are formally denying any involvement. Al Suria News also reported that Russian warplanes were seen being deployed towards the Mediterranean.
All of this comes after the mysterious chemical attack in Syria over the weekend has led to an emergency meeting of the United Nation's Security Council, who will be meeting on Monday to discuss the alleged chemical attack. In the meantime, Russia has also requested a meeting with the UN Security Council, though they have not disclosed what they intend to discuss.
