Gradual, slow rate hikes to support growth – FOMC’s Rosengren

At his speech today in Beijing (China), Boston Fed President Eric Rosengren (2016 voter, dovish) has advocated for slow and gradual rate hikes that can support economic growth.

He also sees risks of lower rates for an extended period of time, while he added that the timing for a rate hike should hinge in part on concerns over financial stability.

In the same line, Chicago Fed President Charles Evans (voter in 2017, dovish), said a spike in long term rates is unlikely, even in the case that the Federal Reserve hikes rates faster than expected.
