China’s trade team is still “preparing to travel to the U.S. for consultations” - WSJ
|According to The Wall Street Journal's Lingling Wei, Chinese diplomats and state media had downplayed President Trump's tariff threat to calm the markets. Citing Chinese sources with direct knowledge of the matter, Wei reported that some officials who were supposed to leave for Washington today are now staying put and waiting for further instructions.
"Before making a final decision on whether Vice Premier Liu should travel to Washington, the Chinese side is trying to get clarity from the U.S. about Trump’s intentions regarding the tweets, said the people with knowledge of the plans," Wei noted, via Twitter.
